Steve Kerr wins 2015-16 Coach of the Year

The NBA announced Tuesday that coach Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors has won the NBA's Coach of the Year award for the 2015-16 season.

Kerr received 64 first-place votes and 381 points for the award in the voting of many media members in the United States and Canada. Portland Trail Blazers' coach Terry Stotts was second with 335 points, while San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was third with 166 points.

Kerr finished second in last year's voting of the award, finishing behind Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer.

Kerr is expected to receive the trophy on Wednesday night prior to Game 5 of the Warriors' first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets.
